More than just a beautiful place to stroll, see a show, or have a picnic, Red Butte Garden is also a vital habitat for many species of animals. We're home to everything from the tiniest springtail to the occasional mountain lion. But many of our most common residents have wings, and you can find them fluttering and flapping all around.

Wasp

Wasps

Maybe not everyone's favorite guest, wasps do actually pollinate our plants as well as capture and eat garden pests.

Bee

Native Bees

Native bees are some of our most important pollinators.

Monarch

Monarch Butterflies

Monarchs, while not as common as they used to be, can still be seen flying about visiting Liatris and milkweed flowers.

Hummingbird

Hummingbirds

This hummingbird is visiting a native paintbrush flower.

Bee

Honeybees

Honeybees are a very common sight in the Garden.

Dragonfly

Dragonflies

Dragonflies can be found around our water features. Not really a pollinator insect, but they do capture and eat their fair share of mosquitoes.

Bee

Bumblebees

Bumblebees are usually out early in the morning working hard. Watch for them on the globe thistles and bee plants.

Next time you're in the Garden, take a little extra time and see how many flying friends you can find.
