Do you love trees? So do we. Red Butte Garden is part of Utah’s arboretum, so there’s no better place to celebrate Arbor Day!
Join us on Friday, April 26 for a free-admission day to explore the beauty of the natural world and learn about the vital role trees play in our lives and environment. With fun family-friendly activities and a Garden-wide scavenger hunt, there's plenty to inspire you to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.
Tree Giveaways
Take home a tree seedling to plant in your yard while supplies last. Choose from: White Mulberry, Hawthorne, or Burr Oak trees.

What is an arboretum?
An arboretum is a place where trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants are cultivated for scientific and educational purposes. By cultivating so many unique trees over its nearly forty-year history, Red Butte Garden is helping to increase the biodiversity of the valley’s tree canopy. Tree of Life | Art-Making Activity with the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City
Friday, April 26 from 10AM-1PM
Join the Consulate of Mexico in Salt Lake City and Red Butte Garden for a “Tree of Life" children’s activity, led by local artist Vicente Martinez, during the Garden’s annual Arbor Day Celebration. You’ll explore the rich symbolism of this traditional craft, delving into its origins in the Mexican city of Izúcar de Matamoros and its representations of cultural and natural heritage. Children are invited to express their thoughts about trees and childhood through drawings and then display them on a tree sculpture to symbolize unity with nature. This activity aims to foster empathy, appreciation for cultural heritage, and celebration of Arbor Day, bringing Mexican and Latino families together for a day of creativity and connection.
Martinez, an artist and multidisciplinary designer born in Mexico City, won the 2021 LatinArte—Our Roots art contest hosted by the consulate and Artes de México en Utah and was an artist-in-residence at The Leonardo in March 2023.

¿Le encantan los árboles? A nosotros también. El Red Butte Garden es parte del arboreto de Utah y el mejor lugar para celebrar el Día del Árbol. Acompáñenos el 26 de abril para disfrutar un día de actividades familiares autoguiadas de entrada gratuita y descubra el papel fundamental que desempeñan los árboles no solo en nuestras vidas, sino también en la naturaleza.
¿Qué es un arboreto?
Un arboreto es un lugar donde se cultivan árboles, arbustos y plantas herbáceas con fines científicos y educativos. Al cultivar tantos árboles únicos a lo largo de sus casi cuarenta años de historia, Red Butte Garden ha ayudado a aumentar la biodiversidad de la cubierta arbórea del valle.

Llévese a casa un árbol joven para plantar en su jardín (se entregarán hasta que se agoten). Elija entre: morera blanca, espino blanco o roble bur.

Tree of Life (Árbol de la vida) | Actividad artística con el Consulado de México en Salt Lake City
Viernes 26 de abril de 10 a.m. a 1 p.m.
Acompañe al Consulado de México en Salt Lake City y a Red Butte Garden en una actividad infantil sobre el "Árbol de la vida" (dirigida por el artista local Vicente Martinez) durante la celebración anual del Día del Árbol en nuestro jardín. Explorará el rico simbolismo de esta artesanía tradicional, adentrándose en sus orígenes, en la ciudad mexicana de Izúcar de Matamoros, y en sus representaciones del patrimonio cultural y natural. Se invita a los niños a expresar sus pensamientos sobre los árboles y la infancia a través de dibujos y a exponerlos en una escultura de árbol que simboliza la unidad con la naturaleza. El objetivo de esta actividad es fomentar la empatía, la gratitud por el patrimonio cultural y la celebración del Día del Árbol, reuniendo a las familias mexicanas y latinas en un día de creatividad y conexión.
Martinez, artista y diseñador multidisciplinario nacido en Ciudad de México, ganó el concurso de arte LatinArte—Our Roots organizado por el consulado y Artes de México en Utah en 2021 y fue artista en residencia en The Leonardo en marzo de 2023.
