Tree Planting: An interpretation of the second edition best management practices

Spend a morning at Red Butte Garden learning best tree planting practices!

This course will cover:

  4. Time of planting
  5. Zen and the art of tree planting
  6. Digging the hole
  7. Preparing the root ball
  8. Placing the tree
  9. Backfilling
  10. Special considerations

This course directly follows and shares the information contained in the ‘BMP’ if attendees want to purchase the book.

Charlie is the arborist for Red Butte Garden and Arboretum, an ISA Certified Arborist, and life-long dendrophile. He is passionate about growing strong, majestic trees that benefit the surrounding community. Before moving to Utah, Charlie was a professional arborist in Minnesota, mentored at Four Seasons Tree Service for 7 years, organized workshops and conferences with the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture. He also assisted in teaching arboriculture classes at Hennepin Technical College. Charlie’s favorite trees are oaks. When not working with trees Charlie enjoys spending time exploring the natural world or working on projects with family and friends.
