After twenty-plus years, the Grow Lab Program has been discontinued.

We are sad to say goodbye to planting Brassica rapa plants in classrooms and sharing the Grow Lab curriculum with students across Utah. However, we are excited to welcome a new classroom visit program called Garden on the Grow.

Garden on the Grow is offered to 1st grade classrooms across the state on a three-year rotation and involves a Red Butte Garden Educator coming into classrooms to facilitate a SEEd enhanced program. To learn more about Garden on the Grow, click here.

Our remaining Grow Lab materials will be utilized in a professional development workshop called Seeds in Schools (please see below for details).

We are currently working on scheduling several Seeds in Schools workshops around the state.

To be added to the workshop waitlist, please email schoolprograms@redbutte.utah.edu. Stay tuned for another Seeds in Schools workshop coming soon! *

Red Butte Garden is excited to offer a limited-time workshop for K-6 grade teachers. Participants will each receive a free plant growing kit. Use your all-inclusive kit to start seeds, grow plants, and investigate SEEd standards with your students!

This 2-hour professional development workshop includes:

  • Botany Basics
  • A Growing Kit for your classroom worth over $200
  • Growing Kit set up instructions and practice
  • Tips and tricks for starting seeds and growing plants
  • SEEd-aligned activity ideas for plants grown with your kit

Space and materials are limited and pre-registration will be required. Please email schoolprograms@redbutte.utah.edu to be added to the workshop waitlist.
