Pinyon Pine       Pinus edulis

Pinus edulis is one of 20 species of pine tree that delicious pine nuts are harvested from. The seeds are very important to wildlife and are eaten by any insects, mammals and birds.

In its native plant community, it grows very slowly, and trees witha trunk diameter of 6 to 8 inches can be well over 100 years old.
