BOTANICAL ART WORKSHOP: Botanical Mandalas

JANUARY 16, 17 & 18 (THREE-DAY WORKSHOP)
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

The word Mandala literally means circle and has its origin in the Sanskrit language. It is often linked with the infinite universe and our connection with our planet and environment. Participants will be supplied with a portfolio containing two photo collections. One collection with a set of plant parts of native medicinal plants and the other with plant parts of the wild rose. The artist will draw plant part line drawings from the chosen collection and will arrange and repeat them on a circular Mandala template (provided) and render it in the medium of their choice.

Materials To Bring to FIRST class:
- A very important roll of scotch brand REMOVABLE tape on blue plaid card
- 2-3 graphite pencils and sharpener HB(med soft) 2H(hard) and 4H(harder)
- A Pentel "clic" white eraser available at all office supply stores
- A gray "kneaded eraser"
- An x-acto knife for carving the "clic" eraser
- A pad of 11x14 tracing paper- Canson makes the most translucent
- 1-2 11x14 sheets of HOT PRESSED (very smooth) watercolor paper

Instructor will provide a foam board easel, a set of Verithin pencils, a blue pencil (Col-Erase) if you do not have one, Sally's Artist transfer paper and the above mentioned photo portfolio.

Materials To Bring to SECOND & THIRD Class:

Bring media of your choice:
- Watercolors, brushes small i.e. #2 and larger #5 (suggested) a water container
- Colored pencils
- Pens and Inks - felt tipped, technical - acrylic, India or colored inks
- Crayons
