Kirk Marshall is a Salt Lake City based photographer who pursues self-expression through photography.
As we lose the pristine beauty of our childhood we gain another beauty, a beauty that more subtle, more guarded, less valued by society but which is perhaps in many ways more sublime.
The subjects of Marshall's exhibit series were carefully dried using a natural drying process that encourages the development of shape and form. They were then digitally photographed against a black, light-absorbing background using appropriate natural and artificial lighting to reveal form, color, and detail. Many of the images on display are composites from multiple photographs to achieve sharp focus across the entire subject.
