This Utah native is a great perennial to have in any xeric garden with its large four-petaled flowers, bright pink buds, and delicate aroma. It does best when grown in full sun with dry, infertile, well-drained soil and given plenty of room to spread.
Rubber rabbitbrush can be found growing throughout the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, Sonoran Desert and from lowlands to sub-alpine zones. It grows in sunny, open locations in a variety of habitats such as moist drainage, dry deserts, plains and mountains. It is very common to find on disturbed land. Dense stands of rubber rabbitbrush usually indicate poor range management.
Pinyon pine is a widely distributed tree that grows throughout the Intermountain region of North America. It is sometimes called the Colorado Pinyon.
In the wild it grows very slowly, and trees with a trunk diameter of 6 to 8 inches can be over a hundred years old. Pinyon's typically grow in either pure stands or mixed with Utah juniper.

Toothache plant is a flowering herb in the Asteraceae or sunflower family. It is also known as Paracress or Akarkara. It is native to tropical regions of South America and is grown as an ornamental or medicinal plant in many parts of the world.
The fragrant, graceful greenery of this herb can be used as a garnish or snipped like dill and used for a last minute flavor enhancer. The flavor of fennel is sweeter and more delicate than anis and, when cooked becomes even lighter and more elusive than in its raw state.
Devil's Claw is native to the southwest region of the United states, and can be found growing in Utah's southern most counties.
This annual plant grows to about 2 or 3 feet tall and does best when it is planted in hot, humid weather with warm summer nights. It is very drought tolerant and sun loving.
