The leaves have fallen on many of our trees, revealing the often overlooked textures and colors of their beautiful bark. The bark of trees and shrubs can create a tantalizing display of papery peels, deep gnarled fissures and lovely color gradients that provide visual interest throughout the fall and winter.

Just because the weather isn't warm anymore doesn't mean there arent plenty of beautiful things to be seen throughout the garden.

After the first major snowstorm of the year the garden looks great! The backdrop of snow creates a great contrast between our evergreens and trees and blanket of white.

Fall is the time when most maples put on the best show. At Red Butte Garden we have a nice selection of maples to give you a good taste of how maples can enhance your own garden.

Fall is definitely here folks and it's putting on its best dress just in time for Garden After Dark which begins October 18th. The Garden is draped with brilliant fall foliage, fall blooming flowers and showy seed heads.

Late summer at Red Butte is when many plants in the sunflower, or aster family, (Asteraceae) put on the best show.

The flowers in this family come in many sizes from the very large like the garden sunflower, to the very small like the native Broom Snakeweed.

Even though it has felt like the surface of the sun outside, many of the plants love it and are blooming like there's no tomorrow!

It is the end of July and there are still plenty of flowers to see. Some plants are still flowering, some are re-flowering and other flowers are new.

The great thing about re-visiting Red Butte Garden is the constant change of color and variety of blossoms. Each time you visit is like your first time.

Now is a great time to visit Red Butte if you haven't been in a while because the garden is constantly changing. What was blooming earlier in the summer has finished its blooming cycle and has passed the baton on to those next in line to flower.
