Seasonal Events

Bulbs & Blooms

Visit the Garden during the months of March, April and May to see 360,000 blooming bulbs. Over 215,000 daffodils and a variety of mini bulbs such as Crocus and Iris will blanket the Rose Garden ground in March giving way to daffodils and other blooming flowers in April and Crab Apple trees that blossom like pink popcorn on the branch.

Arbor Day

There’s no better place than Red Butte Garden to celebrate Arbor Day! As Utah’s very own arboretum and the official host of the state Arbor Day celebration, this is a great day to be introduced to the wonderful world of trees. Join us in April for fun activities on roots, leaves, rings and seeds and leave with a tree to plant in your own garden. Arbor Day is a free admission day thanks to Salt Lake County voters and Zoo, Arts and Parks.

Monday Family Night

This year Monday Family Nights will be filled with colors, sounds, music and dance from around the world. Local Utah cultural groups with diverse backgrounds perform music and dance from their heritage while children enjoy crafts and activities associated with the different cultures. Join us for a wonderful evening and explore the diversity in our own community!

You are welcome to bring a picnic and a blanket. All performances are held in the Amphitheater (weather permitting). Please enter through the Visitor Center.

Campout

Bring your tent, camping gear and a picnic dinner for an unbelievable night in the Garden! This overnight campout will include games, s'mores, a guided tour of the Garden and a late night movie. We'll also provide a scrumptious catered breakfast Saturday morning for all participants.

Registration will begin May 20.

Garden After Dark

Garden After Dark is Red Butte Garden’s annual family-friendly Halloween celebration. The Garden’s 25 acres of Formal Gardens provide an indoor and outdoor event with light displays, crafts, activities, performances and more! Each year Garden After Dark focuses on a specific theme appropriate to the Garden and Halloween.

Winter Solstice Celebration

Join us on Winter Solstice in the Children's Garden for a festive, modern celebration of December's lesser-known holiday. Children's crafts and activities that commemorate ancient Solstice traditions are found throughout the Children’s Garden and Em's Sprout House. Activity stations are located both indoors and out so visitors can enjoy the season.
