Botany for Artists

“If you can see it, you can draw it. If you draw it, you will see it.”

In this class you will learn to keenly observe the intricate details and functions of plant parts as we explore the Garden. You will dissect plant parts, learn plant classifications, and draw your observations. This class is designed for all artists, novice to expert, who want to increase their knowledge of the amazing world of plants so that they can more skillfully create realistic botanical art and illustrations.

MATERIALS LIST:
1. Your favorite graphite drawing pencils for detailed drawing
2. “Pentel Clic” white eraser and/or small grey kneaded eraser
3. Extra and not required: Variety of colored pencils, 10-20x loupe

Materials provided to students:
1. Botanical dissection kit
2. Small magnifying lens
3. Bienfang Note Sketch Book
4. Small ruler
