YOUTH EDUCATION SPECIALISTS - PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT
Applications are now being accepted for a Youth Education Specialist at Red Butte Garden.
Youth Education Specialist will work with a variety of young audiences teaching about horticulture and ecology and providing engaging activities for young visitors. Job duties include: oversee and instruct daily school programs; work with volunteers to ensure program quality; maintain supplies, facilities and equipment; participate in festivals leading environmentally themed activities; lead daylong summer camp experiences; host weekend programs and birthday parties; assist with daily operations; other tasks as assigned.
Salary: $9.00/hr.
This is a seasonal position, 30 hours/week until October 31st 2008. Some weekend work is required. Environmental education training opportunities included.
Successful candidate will have background in education, horticulture or ecology. BA preferred. Must enjoy being outdoors and working with children. Teaching experience preferred. Own transportation required.

Requirements
High school graduate. Able to work weekends. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Successful candidate will have previous experience working with children and feel comfortable working in an outdoor setting.
Preference
An interest in plants demonstrated either by education or past employment. Formal or informal education experience. Must be flexible and a team player.
Part-time, 20 hrs/wk (mostly weekend work required)
Salary: $9.00/hr.

SEASONAL GARDENER POSITIONS AVAILABLE IN THE HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT.

Performs all duties of landscape care, including but not limited to: planting, weeding, mulching, watering, deadheading, pruning, plant propagation, sweeping, trash removal, fence repair, trail maintenance, etc. Exact duties varies with team assigned.
Previous experience preferred, but not required.
Weekend shift required.
Wage: $7.25 to $7.75 depending on experience
SCHOOL PROGRAMS MANAGER - PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT
Red Butte Garden's program department is seeking a School Programs Manager to oversee the Garden’s award winning and highly successful school programs.
General Duties include: Developing, coordinating and overseeing on-site school programs, as well as coordinating, managing, and implementing the Garden’s Grow Lab outreach program. Responsibilities include revising curriculum, school registration, hiring and training field staff and program implementation.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, Environmental Studies, Horticulture, Education or a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to effectively prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Preference: An interest in plants demonstrated either by education or past employment. Several years of formal or informal education experience, and management skills and administrative experience preferred. Must be flexible and a team player.
Full-time, 40 hrs/wk (Mon-Fri, 8:30AM-5:00PM, some weekend and evening work required)
