PLANTING YOUR YARD FOR WILDLIFE

August 14

Wednesday, August 14

6-8pm

Create a wildlife oasis in your own yard! As human activity eliminates crucial habitat, historic decreases in populations have been recorded across many wonderful and critical species. Join Red Butte Garden's botanist and curator of plant records, Jason Baker, in discovering plants suited for our area that can enhance your yard and create a haven for local wildlife.

Get to know your instructor:

Jason graduated with his B.S. in Botany from Weber State University and has worked as the Curator for Red Butte since 2006, where along with the assistant curator, maintains a database with more than 25,000 active plant records. After settling in Salt Lake, he began providing botanical expertise for both the public and private sector by performing baseline land surveys for conservation easements, pre and post vegetation restoration surveys, botanical surveys for wetland delineations, native seed recommendations, and countless plant identifications. When he is not working, he enjoys traveling, photography, gardening, botanizing, and collecting plant specimens to donate to the herbaria at Weber State University and the University of Utah.
